Base Salary
$171k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend systems and shared infrastructure used across multiple product teams.
- Lead the architecture of horizontal, cross-cutting systems such as permissions and real-time systems.
- Translate ambiguous, high-impact problems into clear technical strategies and execution plans.
- Drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, and performance for mission-critical use cases.
- Partner with engineers across teams to guide best practices and enable high-quality contributions.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, enhancing their skills and architectural understanding.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems serving large user bases (millions+).
- Strong backend engineering expertise, with a focus on experience over specific tech stacks.
- Experience building platform or horizontal systems used by other engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and drive complex initiatives from ambiguity to execution.
- Strong collaboration skills to build consensus and influence across teams without authority.
- Comfortable mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction at the organizational level.
