Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end product features in a Next.js and React application, including server components, route handlers, client interactivity, and data-layer integrations.
- Develop the shared component library, design tokens, accessible component APIs, responsive themes, and faithful implementations of Figma specifications.
- Own the server tier for API proxying, authentication, session handling, credential protection, and backend service integration.
- Implement OIDC login, JWT claim verification, session expiry, role-based access control, and permission-aware UI behavior.
- Maintain the OpenAPI-generated TypeScript SDK, code-generation pipeline, compatibility gates, and API drift detection.
- Partner with backend teams on API contracts and negotiate response-shape improvements for efficient UI development.
- Build resilient data synchronization with caching, invalidation, optimistic updates, pagination, and clear loading and error states.
- Write component, unit, and Playwright end-to-end tests with mocked network behavior and live-environment coverage.
- Improve accessibility, responsive behavior, bundle size, rendering cost, Core Web Vitals, and production web performance.
- Instrument and operate the application with error tracking, product analytics, feature flags, and structured logging.
- Review code, debug production issues to root cause, add regression coverage, and mentor junior engineers through design reviews.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep production experience in TypeScript and modern React paradigms.
- Mastery of Next.js architecture, including server/client component boundaries, caching strategies, and server-side rendering.
- Full-stack experience owning secure server-side code and API proxies in addition to browser-based development.
- Practical experience implementing OAuth2/OIDC flows, JWT verification, secure cookies and sessions, and role-based access control.
- Experience managing complex application state and synchronizing server state with client UI updates.
- Strong CSS architecture and design-system experience, including utility-first CSS, scalable theming, and headless primitives.
- Testing experience across unit, component, and end-to-end layers, including network mocking and CI integration.
- Experience working in a monorepo with shared packages and a task-graph build system.
- Required technologies include TypeScript, React, Next.js App Router, Node.js, Tailwind CSS, TanStack Query, Zod, OpenAPI-generated clients, Vitest, Testing Library, MSW, Playwright, pnpm workspaces, Turborepo, ESLint, Prettier, GitHub Actions, and Docker.
- Experience with production error tracking and product analytics such as Sentry or PostHog is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 10 years of related experience.
- Preferred experience includes Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure products, GPU or AI/ML platform interfaces, YAML editors, geospatial visualization, animation, web performance optimization, feature-flag experimentation, design-system tooling, OpenTelemetry, structured logging, Go, and relevant open-source contributions.
- Clear written English and the ability to collaborate asynchronously across globally distributed teams are required.
