Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design and delivery of GenAI search, multi-turn agentic search, personalization, contextual discovery, and scalable search-indexing capabilities.
- Define the long-term architecture, technical vision, and execution roadmap for the Search & Personalization domain.
- Drive migration of search services from Heroku to Falcon and contribute to broader platform modernization.
- Own observability, telemetry, SLOs and SLIs, latency budgets, relevance metrics, safe change practices, availability targets, and security risk governance.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and sponsorship to engineers and collaborate with Product, Platform Services, Marketing and Growth, and Embedded Exchanges teams.
- Promote AI-native engineering practices and foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, trust, curiosity, and ownership.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with technical leadership on enterprise-scale search, recommendation, or personalization systems.
- Experience defining long-term technical vision and architectural roadmaps for complex search or ML-infused platform domains.
- Deep expertise in indexing pipelines, ranking, query understanding, relevance tuning, and search infrastructure such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr.
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Java, or equivalent technologies for high-throughput search services.
- Experience designing recommendation or personalization systems using collaborative filtering, content-based ranking, behavioral signals, or equivalent approaches.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs or GenAI into search products, including AI-generated summaries, query expansion, semantic search, or conversational retrieval.
- Experience with real-time or near-real-time data pipelines for indexing and signal ingestion.
- Strong engineering-excellence experience involving observability, telemetry, latency SLOs, CI/CD, service ownership, safe change practices, and production reliability.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include conversational or agentic search, MCP tools/resources, A2A patterns, embedded discovery, marketplace or e-commerce search, personalization at scale, platform migrations, security and data governance, Salesforce Platform knowledge, polyglot development, and proficient English.

- Base salary varies by location, with a general annual range of $197,300-$313,700 and a select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area range of $237,700-$344,700.
