Base Salary
$142k - $189k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and analyze backend systems, APIs, data layers, and service integrations for video streaming products.
- Build video ingestion, content scheduling, catalog export, metadata delivery, and recommendation pipelines.
- Design system architecture, data workflows, database schemas, error-handling mechanisms, and scalable backend solutions.
- Deploy and manage backend services in Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure environments using Kubernetes and Docker-based microservices.
- Collaborate with product, operations, server, client, quality assurance, security, and cross-functional teams to define and implement features.
- Create technical documentation, system diagrams, test plans, integration tests, monitoring, alerting, and service automation.
- Drive technical decisions, optimize reusable components and performance, and maintain backend service stability.
- Repair, restore, and repave backend services while addressing defects, vulnerabilities, and operational standards.
- Work variable schedules, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building Java backend servers.
- 5+ years of experience building web service APIs using REST or SOAP and working with HTTP/SSL protocols.
- 5+ years of experience operating MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MongoDB databases.
- 5+ years of experience working with Linux-based operating systems, including CentOS or OSX.
- Strong experience developing Docker-based microservices on Kubernetes.
- Strong experience operating servers in Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure environments.
- Strong leadership in technical solution design and implementation, with the ability to work independently.
- Preferred experience manipulating video content, metadata, caption files, and video format files.
- Preferred knowledge of HLS, MP4, and Mpeg-Dash video formats.
- Preferred experience developing scalable and highly available applications.
- Preferred experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka message queue transactions.
- Preferred experience with content recommendation systems.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience.
