Responsibilities
- Lead research, design, and development of AI capabilities for document classification, information extraction, and reasoning.
- Drive applied research in LLM benchmarking, grounding, agent-based systems, retrieval-augmented generation, and reasoning improvement.
- Design, build, evaluate, and deploy NLP, information retrieval, and document processing models.
- Develop scalable, production-quality AI systems and apply software engineering, experimentation, and model deployment best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to solve complex business problems with AI.
- Mentor junior scientists and researchers and drive technical excellence.
- Present research findings, technical recommendations, and project outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to patents, technical publications, conference presentations, and other intellectual property.
- Stay current with AI, machine learning, NLP, and LLM advancements and apply relevant innovations to products.
Requirements
- PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, or a related field, or a master's degree with equivalent industry experience.
- 7–10 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying NLP, information retrieval, Document AI, or intelligent document processing solutions in commercial environments.
- Strong experience building AI-powered applications with LLMs and modern machine learning techniques.
- Expertise solving complex business problems through applied AI research and production-grade implementations.
- Strong software engineering skills, including writing, testing, and deploying production code.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing outcomes through cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated mentoring experience and success driving technical excellence in research or applied science teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in agile environments with product, engineering, and business teams.
- Preferred experience with LLM evaluation frameworks, AI agents, grounding, retrieval-augmented generation, and reasoning optimization.
- Preferred publications at leading AI, NLP, machine learning, or information retrieval conferences.
- Preferred record of patents, research contributions, or recognized AI and machine learning innovations.
- Preferred experience deploying large-scale AI systems in cloud environments and optimizing models for enterprise applications.
- Preferred understanding of generative AI, foundation models, and advanced document intelligence technologies.
- Preferred experience leading research programs from ideation through production deployment.
