Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ACH and wire-transfer systems covering origination, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling.
- Build payment-processing pipelines integrated with banking partners, payment rails, and third-party financial APIs.
- Implement wire-fraud prevention, transaction-verification, and anomaly-detection controls with security and compliance teams.
- Improve frontend and backend applications supporting escrow accounting and closing-day money movement.
- Own payment-infrastructure architecture, including data integrity, idempotency, retry and failure handling, and audit logging.
- Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Accounting stakeholders on regulatory and audit requirements, including NACHA rules, wire-fraud regulations, and SOC 2 controls.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for payment-critical systems.
- Mentor junior developers and collaborate across engineering teams and customer-facing functions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a full-stack web developer.
- Experience owning complex, high-liability production systems and responding methodically to incidents involving funds.
- Strong understanding of transactional integrity, idempotency, and failure-mode design in financial systems.
- Experience making architectural decisions for large, high-stakes projects.
- Experience working on multiple engineering teams, both small and large.
- Strong product sense, attention to detail, and interest in building trustworthy financial systems.
- Direct experience with money-movement systems in banking, fintech, payment processing, or similar regulated environments is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with payment rails, banking APIs, NACHA, OFAC screening, PCI, or SOC 2 is preferred.
- Experience mentoring junior developers is preferred.
