Responsibilities
- Architect, harden, scale, and operate the Kong AI Gateway deployment across authentication, consumer budgets, rate limiting, semantic caching, and observability.
- Lead reliability engineering, incident response, root-cause analysis, remediation, monitoring, and alerting for gateway issues.
- Design platform solutions spanning Jenkins, JPAAS, ArgoCD, Artifactory, Xray, GitHub Enterprise, and GitHub Actions runners.
- Evaluate and roll out AI developer tooling and engineering productivity platforms, including structured pilots and build-versus-buy recommendations.
- Set AI infrastructure architecture and standards, review designs, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers.
- Partner with security, DevEx, and product engineering teams to translate platform needs into capabilities.
- Deploy and operate self-hosted and open-weight model-serving infrastructure with GPU capacity planning, autoscaling, and cost/performance tuning.
- Support model versioning, evaluation, safe rollout, retrieval-augmented generation infrastructure, vector stores, and embedding pipelines.
- Build observability for token usage, latency, and spend across API-based and self-hosted models.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering experience owning production systems end to end.
- Hands-on experience with API gateway technologies such as Kong, Envoy, or Apigee, ideally including AI/LLM gateway patterns.
- Strong Kubernetes and GitOps experience, including ArgoCD or comparable tooling across multiple environments.
- Experience designing and administering Jenkins pipelines, build infrastructure, and GitHub Actions runner or equivalent fleets.
- Experience with artifact and package management systems such as Artifactory and Xray, plus GitHub Enterprise administration.
- Working knowledge of Terraform and AWS/EKS infrastructure.
- Experience deploying and operating self-hosted LLM inference stacks and GPU-backed infrastructure, including Kubernetes GPU scheduling and autoscaling.
- Familiarity with LLMOps practices, model versioning, evaluation harnesses, and usage and cost observability.
- Track record of setting technical direction, driving cross-team initiatives, mentoring engineers, and operating with minimal oversight.
- Clear communication skills for explaining infrastructure trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience operating enterprise AI-assisted developer tools such as Claude Code or Copilot.
- Preferred familiarity with Okta/OIDC and enterprise authentication patterns.
- Preferred experience with LinearB, Qodo, vector databases, RAG pipelines, and model fine-tuning or lightweight training using LoRA/QLoRA or similar.
