Responsibilities
- Perform performance and power gap analysis across CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and system workloads on Linux platforms.
- Run benchmarks including Geekbench, Cinebench, MLPerf Inference, and workload-specific tests, then analyze results for optimization opportunities.
- Measure and analyze power and thermal behavior using power meters, onboard sensors, and OS-level telemetry.
- Tune Linux scheduler behavior, CPU frequency scaling, power policies, thermal limits, kernels, drivers, and system configurations.
- Validate optimization results, track regressions across software and firmware revisions, and check for functional or stability regressions.
- Support OEM and ODM customers during platform validation, performance tuning, power optimization, and escalation activities.
- Debug customer-reported performance, power, and thermal issues and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Collaborate with platform, BIOS/firmware, thermal, silicon, validation, and test teams.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, product documentation, application notes, and FAQs.
- Support customer training, product demonstrations, commercialization, customization, and maintenance of Qualcomm products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
- One to four years of experience in Linux-based systems, performance analysis, power optimization, or system-level software support.
- Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience or a master’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience.
- At least one year of experience with programming or scripting languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java.
- At least one year of experience with system debugging or performance analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with Linux scheduler concepts, CPU frequency scaling, and power management.
- Experience running benchmarks and analyzing performance and power data.
- Preferred experience includes ARM-based SoCs, Linux performance tools, thermal behavior, OEM/ODM projects, Yocto/Linux BSP environments, and performance visualization or dashboards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer communication, and technical English skills.
About Qualcomm
Qualcomm is a public semiconductor company headquartered in San Diego, founded in 1985, that designs and sells wireless chipsets and platforms for mobile devices, automotive, IoT, and networking, notably the Snapdragon application processors and 5G modems. It also licenses a large portfolio of cellular patents to device makers, generating revenue alongside chip sales; its technology underpins many Android smartphones and emerging automotive and edge-compute systems, and it trades on NASDAQ as QCOM.
