Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end architecture and solution delivery across discovery, design, implementation, release, and operational readiness.
- Design and build scalable platform infrastructure, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, shared services, and core backend capabilities.
- Lead client-facing workshops, technical presentations, solution approvals, implementation activities, and stakeholder alignment.
- Design and govern partner integrations for payments, loyalty, inventory, SaaS APIs, authentication providers, and cloud services.
- Define API contracts, data models, authentication strategies, error handling, versioning, security, and integration patterns.
- Lead Discovery and Delivery Tracks, translating prototypes and feasibility findings into actionable production backlogs.
- Write production code, build prototypes and reference implementations, conduct code reviews, and solve complex technical problems.
- Produce architecture artifacts including ADRs, interface contracts, data-flow diagrams, infrastructure specifications, sequencing diagrams, migration and rollback plans, and traceability matrices.
- Define architecture standards and non-functional requirements while managing risks related to compatibility, data integrity, scalability, compliance, and partner dependencies.
- Mentor engineers and architects on architecture practices, infrastructure patterns, AI-assisted development, and platform best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience, including recent hands-on coding and prototyping.
- At least 5 years designing cloud-native, microservices, or event-driven architectures on Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Strong experience building platform infrastructure and scalable backend systems.
- Experience owning end-to-end solution delivery, including design, implementation, and post-release operational accountability for medium-to-large projects.
- Experience with partner integrations involving payments, SaaS APIs, loyalty, inventory, or authentication providers.
- Hands-on experience building prototypes or reference implementations to validate architecture and solution feasibility.
- Expertise in API-first design using REST and OpenAPI, plus experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with containerization, CI/CD, and Kubernetes-based delivery pipelines.
- Practical experience with generative AI and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
- Strong stakeholder communication, workshop facilitation, technical presentation, mentoring, code review, and architecture governance skills.
- Preferred qualifications include retail platform knowledge, relevant Azure or AWS Solutions Architect certifications, API gateway or integration-platform experience, API security and compliance knowledge, formal API specifications, distributed systems experience, infrastructure-as-code experience, and Dual-Track Agile leadership.
