Responsibilities
- Design and build production-grade Java microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.
- Design, implement, operate, and optimize high-throughput streaming and batch data pipelines using GCP Dataflow, Apache Beam, and related services.
- Own services deployed to GCP, including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, and Compute/GKE.
- Define CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code patterns and mentor engineers on automation.
- Design and optimize relational database integrations and data solutions involving PostgreSQL and Oracle.
- Drive testing strategy, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, as well as static analysis and continuous improvement.
- Make architecture decisions, address technical debt, and mentor engineers delivering scalable data solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep Java expertise.
- 5+ years of prior working experience in a global banking, insurance, or financial organization.
- Proven experience designing and operating large-scale microservices architectures.
- Hands-on experience with GCP services including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Compute/GKE.
- Experience building large-volume streaming and batch data pipelines.
- Practical PostgreSQL and Oracle experience covering schema design, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, backup and replication strategies, and stored procedures using PL/pgSQL or PL/SQL.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, system design, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes/GKE, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Unit and integration testing experience and strong engineering practices.
- A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a relevant field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, mentoring ability, analytical thinking, organizational skills, and cross-functional influence.
- Preferred experience authoring Apache Beam pipelines in Java, using Apache Spark, and applying streaming concepts such as event-driven design, exactly-once semantics, windowing, and watermarks.
- Preferred experience migrating or integrating Oracle and PostgreSQL using tools such as pg_dump/pg_restore, ora2pg, logical replication, or heterogeneous replication.
- Preferred experience with Bigtable, Spanner, Redis, or other NoSQL stores; JVM tuning, garbage collection, and profiling tools; and cloud security, data governance, GDPR, and PII considerations.
- Ability to use AI tools productively while applying critical judgment for responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
