Staff Software Engineer – Cards Servicing

Responsibilities
- Own technical direction, domain architecture, roadmaps, service boundaries, and data boundaries for Cards Servicing across teams.
- Lead AWS-based backend modernization, including reusable servicing capabilities, reduced vendor coupling, and independent team delivery.
- Design distributed servicing workflows with consistency and recovery patterns that protect account and card data integrity.
- Contribute hands-on to implementations, prototypes, code and design reviews, troubleshooting, and infrastructure issue resolution.
- Champion automated testing, CI/CD, secure coding, observability, performance, production readiness, reusable patterns, and documentation.
- Mentor engineers and emerging technical leaders in system design, problem-solving, and technical decision-making.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Security, and Platform teams on requirements, dependencies, and technical roadmaps.
- Drive improvements that reduce recurring incidents, simplify architecture, and address technical debt.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience designing and operating production backend systems and leading complex technical initiatives.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript or TypeScript, with hands-on REST API design and implementation experience.
- Experience designing and implementing backend solutions on AWS, including familiarity with Amazon EKS, AWS Lambda, and Amazon SQS.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, service integration, relational and NoSQL data stores, and reliability patterns.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, troubleshooting, and secure software development.
- Ability to mentor engineers, lead design discussions, and influence technical decisions across teams without formal authority.
- Preferred experience shaping architecture for complex financial services or large-scale customer platforms.
- Preferred experience leading cross-team technical strategy, platform evolution, legacy modernization, build-versus-buy decisions, and complex migrations.
- Preferred experience with AWS-based distributed systems, domain-driven design, regulated environments, security, auditability, data integrity, and operational resilience.
