Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable distributed systems using Java, Python, ReactJS, and Vertx.
- Drive architecture, implementation, deployment, and operational readiness of platform capabilities.
- Build self-service onboarding, configuration, deployment, and reusable platform components, frameworks, and APIs.
- Improve scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency of production systems.
- Diagnose distributed-system issues involving streaming, checkpointing, backpressure, data skew, and infrastructure dependencies.
- Own production services, including on-call support, incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, customer teams, and partner engineering organizations.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, automation, monitoring, and production-readiness initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and drive projects from design through production rollout.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, computer information systems, or a related area, or equivalent qualifying experience under the stated minimum options.
- Strong programming experience in Java and ReactJS.
- Experience with distributed stream-processing frameworks, relational databases such as MSSQL, non-relational databases such as Cassandra, and messaging systems such as Apache Kafka.
- Knowledge of fault tolerance, checkpointing, partitioning, backpressure, state management, and high availability.
- Experience designing cloud-native microservices and REST APIs using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms.
- Experience building highly available production systems with metrics, dashboards, logging, and alerting.
- Knowledge of software design patterns, concurrent programming, scalable system design, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure automation.
- Strong debugging and performance-tuning skills for distributed applications.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with two years of software engineering experience, enterprise data integration or ETL platform experience, Presto, Kafka, GCS, or Trino experience, SDK or open-source project experience, and developer-platform or self-service infrastructure experience.
