Responsibilities
- Build and architect Alpaca’s algo trading platform for high quality and performance.
- Write substantial production code across frontend, backend, databases, and distributed systems.
- Design scalable, highly available, robust, concurrent, and low-latency systems.
- Make critical technical decisions regarding system architecture, abstraction, data modeling, and customer experience.
- Optimize systems for low latency and high throughput.
- Work with messaging queues, message brokers, and service-oriented architectures.
Requirements
- Strong and experienced software engineering background; lead experience is preferred.
- Programming experience in Go and C/C++.
- Experience optimizing for low latency and high throughput.
- Experience with messaging queues and message brokers.
- Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low-latency systems, and concurrency control.
- Experience developing highly scalable distributed low-latency systems.
- Strong system design skills, including object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.
- Preferred qualifications include algorithmic trading, OMS/RMS, FIX protocol, trading or exchange systems, observability, tracing, continuous profiling, benchmarking, financial markets, financial ledgers, statistical or quantitative analysis, GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes.
