Responsibilities
- Set the technical vision and architecture strategy for the authorization platform while balancing scalability, delivery, and secure-by-default principles.
- Build and maintain core authorization frameworks that support transactions across the ServiceNow product platform.
- Own features from design through delivery and create well-architected solutions across multiple teams.
- Lead design and code reviews focused on access control, performance, maintainability, and testability.
- Implement extensible software that enables customers and applications to customize functionality.
- Define functional, regression, integration, and performance testing strategies.
- Diagnose complex production issues, determine root causes, and develop mitigation plans across the security stack.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across the organization.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with authorization technologies such as RBAC, ABAC, policy engines, or related systems.
- A record of completing complex cross-team projects with quality and on-time delivery.
- Experience troubleshooting difficult production issues involving memory leaks, concurrency, caching, networking, and intermittent failures.
- Technical leadership experience influencing architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams without direct authority.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including authoring design documents or RFCs and presenting technical strategy to senior engineering leadership.
- 12+ years of software development experience with a bachelor’s degree, 8+ years with a master’s degree, 5+ years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance optimization at scale.
- Expert understanding of object-oriented and modularized software practices, with emphasis on Java and Golang.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Selenium, or TestNG and integrating tests into development pipelines.
- Deep understanding of software quality principles including reliability, observability, and production readiness.
- Experience applying or evaluating AI-powered coding, operational tooling, workflow automation, or the broader impact of AI on software and infrastructure.
- Prior ServiceNow Platform experience, authorization framework development, and Kubernetes-based services in regulated environments are preferred.
