Responsibilities
- Plan, design, construct, and review APIs.
- Design, implement, and deploy efficient, maintainable, and robust microservices for medium-to-high complexity features.
- Collaborate with service teams and stakeholders to apply the organization’s API design, construction, and maintenance strategy.
- Create technical designs and rough estimates and implement product features.
- Collaborate with peers on designs, code reviews, and testing.
- Develop unit and end-to-end tests for new and existing features.
- Provide 12x7 on-call support during the engineer’s day.
- Lead projects involving small groups of 3–4 members and participate in resource planning and backlog refinement.
- Support escalations of complex system issues and participate in improvements to critical team systems.
- Collaborate with Product Management, the Engineering Manager, architects, engineers, and customers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in Java-based backend development.
- Strong knowledge of server-side object-oriented programming and the Spring Boot framework.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful and GraphQL APIs for API-first applications.
- Experience using cloud-native technologies from AWS or other cloud providers.
- Experience developing microservices for multi-tenant SaaS applications.
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL, EKS, Kafka, and Redis.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and visualization tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Experience with AI development tools such as Cursor or Claude.
- Experience working with remote teams.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional experience designing and implementing event-driven architecture is desired.
- Experience writing software applications in Go is desired.
