Base Salary
$146k - $264k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the test strategy for Akamai’s custom Linux kernel, with emphasis on functionality and new hardware support.
- Design, build, and scale automated test frameworks validating hardware compatibility, performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop test suites for new hardware designs and facilitate porting Akamai kernel modifications to newer Linux kernel and VM infrastructure versions.
- Debug, isolate, and troubleshoot complex low-level system issues in testing and simulated production environments.
- Architect and enhance build and test automation infrastructure for robust continuous integration and testing.
- Provide technical leadership, establish quality standards, and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Solid scripting experience with Python, Shell, or Perl, plus some software validation experience in C.
- Understanding of Linux kernel internals, including hardware drivers, PCIe, GPU hardware, Ethernet devices, KVM, virtio, cgroups, memory management, file systems, block I/O, and the TCP/IP stack.
- Experience with x86 and general-purpose/server-class arm64 architectures.
- Extensive experience with Linux kernel and hardware debugging tools, performance benchmarking, and continuous testing or CI frameworks.
- Established technical leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills for complex infrastructure challenges.
