Responsibilities
- Rapidly develop software prototypes, proof-of-concepts, lightweight applications, services, scripts, interfaces, and workflows.
- Translate ambiguous mission requirements and customer needs into working technical solutions and minimum viable products.
- Build data ingestion, transformation, normalization, enrichment, and processing pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Integrate APIs, databases, files, feeds, AI models, and software components from multiple sources.
- Develop SQL queries and Python-based data processing workflows while monitoring pipelines and troubleshooting data quality issues.
- Integrate LLMs, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, information retrieval, and AI agents into prototypes where appropriate.
- Develop evaluation methods and automate manual or knowledge-intensive workflows using AI-driven analysis or decision support.
- Iterate prototypes based on user feedback, identify technical risks and dependencies, and recommend production implementation approaches.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, AI engineers, product teams, mission experts, and government customers.
- Support customer demonstrations, testing, experimentation, deployment, and operations in secure or potentially classified environments.
- Document prototype architecture, functionality, technical decisions, capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence or Lifestyle Polygraph.
- At least 3 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, application development, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience with C++, Python, Java, SQL, or equivalent programming skills.
- Experience integrating APIs and multiple data sources, rapidly developing prototypes or proof-of-concepts, and applying software development fundamentals.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies, solve problems, debug effectively, work independently, and make technical decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience supporting the Department of Defense or Intelligence Community; building AI/ML or LLM-powered applications; and working with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, NLP, information retrieval, AI agents, or tool-calling workflows.
- Preferred experience with modern web applications, FastAPI, Flask, React, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake, Git, or taking prototypes into production.
- Preferred experience working in classified, secure, or air-gapped environments and developing applications for government or national security customers.
- Ability to obtain and maintain additional security clearance accesses to Special Access Programs (SAP) or Access Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM).
