Responsibilities
- Own the design and delivery of mission-critical payment systems with high availability, low latency, strict correctness, and cost efficiency.
- Define payment architecture, stable APIs, event contracts, data models, versioning, and platformization strategy.
- Build resilient integrations with card networks, banks, alternative payment methods, and real-time payment rails.
- Lead regionalization across currencies, localization, regulations, and payment-scheme requirements, including safe rollouts and migrations.
- Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Operations, country teams, SRE, and Security on payment-platform capabilities and trade-offs.
- Lead reliability, observability, security, compliance, scalability, operability, chaos testing, disaster recovery, and incident response.
- Author and review design documents and RFCs, lead architecture reviews, and establish coding and testing standards.
- Prototype and implement critical-path systems, mentor senior and staff engineers, and scale engineering best practices and culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in senior or lead roles delivering complex systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Java, Go, or Python, with strong coding and testing discipline.
- Advanced use of AI tooling for coding and problem solving to achieve significant velocity.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and microservices, including decomposition, reliability, and scale.
- Extensive hands-on payments experience covering authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation, ledgers, payouts, refunds, disputes, and orchestration, with a focus on correctness and idempotency.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL skills, including financial data modeling, consistency, and reconciliation.
- Experience integrating with card networks, banks, alternative payment methods, and real-time payment rails.
- Knowledge of security and compliance including PCI DSS, encryption, KMS, privacy, and KYC/AML.
- Significant experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including multi-region, multi-tenant, and cost-efficient systems.
- Familiarity with DevOps and SRE practices and tools, including infrastructure as code, observability, incident response, and service-level objectives.
