Responsibilities
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations stakeholders to translate strategic goals into scalable platform capabilities.
- Lead the technical design and hands-on implementation of Payments and Fulfilment features.
- Define and evolve the technical roadmap and architecture for Payments and Fulfilment systems.
- Set high standards for system design, maintainability, performance, and engineering quality.
- Build consensus around technical priorities and communicate complex technical topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach engineers while elevating the technical capabilities of surrounding teams.
- Identify and resolve complex technical challenges and system bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Experience as a Staff Engineer or equivalent senior technical leader working across backend systems at scale.
- Deep expertise designing, building, and operating distributed systems and platforms at scale.
- Exceptional programming skills in Scala, Java, or TypeScript.
- Deep expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures using Kafka.
- A track record of hands-on architecture and development of complex backend systems.
- Strategic, pragmatic problem-solving skills and the ability to implement technical strategies rapidly.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
- Curiosity about AI and willingness to explore how it can improve day-to-day work.
- Experience with Payments or Fulfilment, including integrations with vendors such as Stripe, PayPal, or shipping providers, is beneficial.
- Experience in fashion, marketplaces, fintech, or sustainability-driven technology is beneficial.
