Base Salary

$350k - $500k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and evolution of perception systems covering detection, classification, tracking, and multimodal sensor fusion.
  • Own prediction systems for intent inference, behavior forecasting, occlusion handling, and edge cases.
  • Own planning and decision-making systems for structured driving behaviors and autonomous ground-support-equipment maneuvers.
  • Set technical direction at the interfaces among perception, prediction, planning, and the rest of the autonomy stack.
  • Own the functional and software architecture of the autonomy stack and partner with neighboring teams on implementation.
  • Ship and review production autonomy code for safety-relevant systems operating on vehicles.
  • Set technical direction for the application of deep learning across autonomy pipelines.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers and influence the autonomy organization without direct reports.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience building production autonomy systems across multiple modules such as localization, perception, prediction, planning, and controls.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping autonomy components that operated in production on real vehicles at non-trivial scale.
  • Prior experience as the most senior individual contributor in an autonomy organization, setting direction and mentoring senior engineers without managing a team.
  • Deep technical expertise in perception, prediction, or planning, ideally across more than one area.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with modern deep learning for autonomy, including model training, evaluation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with ROS or ROS 2 and distributed on-vehicle compute, including real-time constraints, IPC, and fault containment.
  • Preferred experience with safety-critical or functional-safety-relevant systems, including ISO 26262, ISO 13849, SOTIF, or aerospace equivalents.
  • Preferred experience with operational design domains involving humans, mixed traffic, or unstructured environments.
  • Preferred familiarity with simulation-driven verification and simulation in a CI/CD pipeline for autonomy.
