Responsibilities

  • Maintain understanding of Autonomous Haulage System architecture, dependencies, and safety constraints and translate them into risk-based test plans and automated coverage.
  • Define and own end-to-end quality strategy spanning functional, performance, security, failover, exploratory, compatibility, and deployment testing.
  • Design, implement, and improve automation frameworks and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments.
  • Use service virtualization, contract testing, infrastructure as code, test hooks, versioned test data, and regression suites to maximize test coverage and execution speed.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to refine requirements, define measurable acceptance criteria, and validate them automatically.
  • Publish quality dashboards covering pass/fail trends, defect escape rate, and MTTR, and use metrics to drive improvement.
  • Facilitate blameless postmortems and convert systemic findings into preventative automated checks.
  • Support field teams with installation, configuration, and on-site validation activities.
  • Mentor engineers, promote coding standards for test development, pilot productivity tools, and coordinate enterprise-wide quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 6 years of combined software or systems testing experience, including at least 4 years building and scaling test automation.
  • Ability to take projects from requirements scoping through production operations and define comprehensive strategies for complex, distributed, or real-time systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one automation programming language: Java, Python, or C#.
  • Strong REST/gRPC API and UI automation experience, plus hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure as code.
  • Ability to mentor, influence, and develop QA and engineering teams, with strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally for up to 10% of the time.
  • Preferred: at least 5 years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven microservices, REST APIs, network protocols, network programming, and distributed application debugging and analysis.
