Responsibilities
- Maintain a deep understanding of Autonomous Haulage System architecture, dependencies, and safety constraints and translate them into risk-based test plans and automated coverage.
- Define and own functional, performance, security, failover, compatibility, and exploratory testing strategies.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to document requirements, acceptance criteria, and automated validation.
- Design, implement, and enhance automation frameworks and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines with infrastructure-as-code provisioning.
- Manage test hooks, test data versioning, regression suites, service virtualization, contract testing, and containerized test environments.
- Publish quality dashboards covering pass/fail trends, defect escape rates, and MTTR, and use metrics to guide continuous improvement.
- Facilitate blameless postmortems and convert systemic findings into preventative automated checks.
- Support deployment configuration, field installation, configuration, and on-site validation activities.
- Mentor engineers, promote coding standards for test development, pilot productivity tools and methodologies, and coordinate cross-functional quality initiatives.
- Travel internationally as needed, including up to 10% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software/systems engineering, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is a plus.
- At least 6 years of combined software or systems testing experience, including at least 4 years building and scaling test automation.
- Ability to take projects from requirements scoping through production operations and define comprehensive test strategies for complex, distributed, or real-time systems.
- Proficiency in at least one automation programming language: Java, Python, or C#.
- Strong REST/gRPC API and UI automation experience.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code for on-demand test environments.
- Ability to mentor, influence, and up-level QA and development teams.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Preferred: at least 5 years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: experience with event-driven microservices, REST APIs, network protocols, network programming, and distributed application debugging and analysis.
- Preferred: strong technical communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
