Responsibilities
- Serve as Product Owner and technical lead for a Global software team designing, developing, integrating, and testing a large distributed Java system.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, mentorship, technical consulting, and problem resolution for cross-functional software teams and stakeholders.
- Analyze system performance, identify root causes, recommend solutions, and drive implementation and maintainability improvements.
- Gather and refine stakeholder requirements, prioritize stories and tasks, define acceptance criteria, and maintain a transparent product backlog.
- Support software design, implementation, testing, integration, deployment, troubleshooting, user support, and MDA projects and experiments.
- Collaborate with Government customers, subject matter experts, system users, regional teams, and software leadership on capabilities, trade-offs, standards, and results.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with 8 years of experience; or a related master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Current, active, in-scope Government-issued Top Secret security clearance required at the time of application and to start.
- Experience as a software leader in a role such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, or similar technical leadership position.
- Proficiency in Java for designing, developing, and testing applications in large-scale distributed environments.
- Experience developing in Unix/Linux environments and strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, testing, and debugging.
- Knowledge of Agile software development practices, software coding standards, configuration management, and structured development processes.
- Strong problem-solving, written communication, oral communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include software architecture experience, Service-Oriented Architecture principles, TDD and continuous integration experience, Windows experience, application deployment and troubleshooting, and experience with Eclipse IDE, Maven, and Git.
- Preferred experience includes distributed-system algorithms, messaging interfaces, peer reviews, data and performance analysis, backlog refinement, sprint execution, and retrospectives.
