Responsibilities
- Design and implement polished product features across Ashby’s recruiting and HR software.
- Work on challenging UX and UI problems, including customer-informed redesigns and new product flows.
- Build and enhance flexible, composable components in Ashby’s in-house design system.
- Consult with Product Engineers on information hierarchy, scannability, and bespoke design work.
- Own projects end to end by researching problems, writing product specifications, creating wireframes, implementing solutions, and iterating based on user feedback.
- Ship quickly, investigate customer issues, and collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and infrastructure partners.
- Participate in design reviews, technical screens, pair programming, and collaborative design system specification work.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of continuous experience as an engineer or designer; internships do not count.
- Good proficiency in both design and engineering, with exceptional proficiency in the discipline practiced full-time.
- Experience designing products and shipping code to hundreds of users, including through side projects if applicable.
- At minimum, good proficiency with TypeScript, React, and CSS.
- Backend proficiency is a plus, particularly for working independently without coordinating with Product Engineers.
- Strong visual design taste, execution, collaboration, ownership, and comfort working with minimal process.
