Responsibilities
- Lead system architecture and design discussions for secure, compliant, scalable, and performant solutions.
- Build backend platform capabilities and core Microsoft Copilot scenarios at enterprise scale.
- Develop and maintain tools supporting code creation, testing, and deployment.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
- Lead implementation and deployment while ensuring quality and robustness.
- Translate product vision into milestones, estimates, and actionable implementation plans.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual by monitoring systems, responding to incidents, and restoring services.
- Analyze incident patterns and implement broad solutions to improve reliability.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand user requirements and incorporate continuous feedback.
- Influence technical strategy and architectural decisions across organizational boundaries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Experience designing and shipping AI-powered products or platforms, including large language models, agentic systems, retrieval, or related technologies.
- Strong software engineering judgment and ability to turn emerging AI capabilities into reliable, maintainable, scalable product experiences.
- Experience architecting and operating large-scale cloud or distributed systems with emphasis on reliability, performance, security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Ability to shape technical strategy, influence architecture across organizational boundaries, mentor engineers, and deliver customer outcomes.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant industry experience, or bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
