Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for GTM and growth platforms.
- Contribute across the stack, including frontend development, when needed.
- Guide technical direction, build-versus-buy decisions, and maintainability trade-offs for owned systems.
- Identify and resolve backend performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Review other engineers’ code and designs and provide peer feedback.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Document system design decisions and backend architecture.
Requirements
- Strong track record of owning backend systems in production.
- Strong full-stack technical skills with proficiency in Vue, Node, Go, and Ruby.
- Deep experience with backend service design, including API design, data modeling, and database performance.
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with shifting campaign and launch priorities.
- Clear written communication skills for architecture proposals and design records.
- Experience from adjacent platform, data, or product engineering backgrounds is welcomed.
- Experience with marketing, growth, or GTM engineering contexts is preferred.
- Experience working in a remote-first or distributed organization is preferred.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond individual work is preferred.
- Ability to explain technical trade-offs to engineering and non-technical stakeholders is preferred.
