Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and scale distributed search platform capabilities in a cloud environment.
- Run and improve production systems supporting high-volume, mission-critical customer workflows.
- Develop maintainable software and resolve complex production defects and system issues.
- Improve observability, automation, capacity planning, operational readiness, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Participate in production support, on-call responsibilities, incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering, SRE, product, architecture, and cross-functional partners on the search platform roadmap.
- Define and promote engineering standards and contribute to the long-term architecture of the search service.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience developing commercial-grade software systems or infrastructure platforms.
- Experience building, operating, or scaling distributed systems in production.
- Experience with mission-critical systems, reliability, availability, operational readiness, production support, or on-call operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose complex system behavior using operational data.
- Experience designing or developing scalable solutions in a major public cloud environment.
- Hands-on programming experience in a modern backend language.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, SRE, product, and architecture teams.
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with petabyte-scale search, indexing, retrieval, or vector infrastructure; Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Lance, or TurboPuffer; Kubernetes and cloud-native operations; Azure; Pulumi or Terraform; deployment automation; Grafana, Prometheus, or New Relic; Linux production environments; and large-scale infrastructure optimization.
