Android Software Engineer
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-performing, flexible, and scalable Android solutions running on Toast POS hardware.
- Ship features end-to-end from design through rollout, monitoring, and iteration based on real-world use.
- Build user experiences using modern Android development best practices.
- Create products and features that improve restaurant guest engagement and experiences.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, UX, QA, and Engineering stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and partner with engineers across the company to improve the Android experience.
Requirements
- Have 2–4 years of Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
- Have hands-on experience shipping production Android applications.
- Have hands-on experience with modern Android tooling and frameworks.
- Be interested in AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents such as Claude Code or similar tools.
- Be comfortable reading and integrating with REST and GraphQL backend services.
- Have strong software development fundamentals, including code quality, unit testing, and clean code.
- Be comfortable with ambiguity, incremental delivery, and evolving workflows with AI tooling.
