Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel components for CIQ products and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and create scalable kernel designs.
  • Write modular, documented C and other relevant code according to coding standards.
  • Develop and maintain kernel-specific testing and automation tools.
  • Debug and resolve kernel-level issues involving memory management, process scheduling, and inter-process communication.
  • Work with hardware engineers to integrate kernel components with hardware platforms.
  • Evaluate advancements in the Linux kernel community and related technologies.
  • Review code submissions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Analyze and optimize kernel performance against specified targets.
  • Document design decisions, APIs, and processes.
  • Guide and mentor junior developers.

Requirements

  • Passion for Linux and open source software with a commitment to reliable, high-quality products.
  • Proficiency in C programming and low-level system programming concepts.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex kernel-level issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, file systems, device drivers, and kernel module development.
  • Familiarity with x86 and ARM hardware platforms and their interaction with the Linux kernel.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of Linux kernel development experience focused on system-level programming and device driver development.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing kernel components for process management, memory management, and inter-process communication.
  • Experience with version control systems, preferably Git, and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, collaboration, and independent work skills.
