Base Salary

$320k - $485k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and run AI safety evaluations focused on legal alignment.
  • Leverage AI to analyze institutional vulnerabilities and develop sociotechnical mitigations.
  • Develop novel applications of AI to bolster democratic processes.
  • Conduct rigorous sociotechnical studies on AI's role in informed deliberation.
  • Partner closely with researchers and policy experts to advance safety missions.
  • Translate research insights into actionable recommendations for product and policy.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in AI and substantive knowledge in government, law, political science, or public policy.
  • Advanced skills in deep learning and capabilities in data science or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and inferential statistics.
  • At least five years of work experience in academia, industry, or government.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity in novel research settings.
  • Strong technical skills in sociotechnical contexts, considering human factors and behavior.
  • Energized by working at the intersection of technical research and democracy.
