Responsibilities
- Design and run AI safety evaluations focused on legal alignment.
- Leverage AI to analyze institutional vulnerabilities and develop sociotechnical mitigations.
- Develop novel applications of AI to bolster democratic processes.
- Conduct rigorous sociotechnical studies on AI's role in informed deliberation.
- Partner closely with researchers and policy experts to advance safety missions.
- Translate research insights into actionable recommendations for product and policy.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in AI and substantive knowledge in government, law, political science, or public policy.
- Advanced skills in deep learning and capabilities in data science or related fields.
- Strong understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and inferential statistics.
- At least five years of work experience in academia, industry, or government.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity in novel research settings.
- Strong technical skills in sociotechnical contexts, considering human factors and behavior.
- Energized by working at the intersection of technical research and democracy.
