Base Salary
$99k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead code management and coordinate changes across component-model and application repositories.
- Develop and maintain backend systems, scientific applications, modeling infrastructure, and data-handling workflows.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines, regression-test protocols, automated testing, and cross-platform system validation.
- Conduct releases, debugging, benchmarking, performance profiling, and optimization to ensure model stability, integration, scalability, and efficiency.
- Support distributed computation across HPC and cloud platforms and collaborate with cross-functional scientific and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Experience modernizing and supporting large-scale scientific or computational systems, including weather and climate modeling platforms.
- Experience with Fortran, C++, Python, MPI, OpenMP, or containerized workflows.
- Experience with backend development, data-handling workflows, model performance optimization, distributed computation, and complex modeling systems.
- Experience with scientific DevOps, software engineering, Agile development, or product and system workflows.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
- Bachelor’s degree or 12+ years of software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- Preferred experience with Docker or Singularity, AWS, GCP, Azure, API integrations, cross-platform build frameworks, numerical models, automated testing frameworks, and performance-profiling tools.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
