Responsibilities
- Design scalable Python applications for finance and accounting data processing, reporting, and transaction handling.
- Develop modules for general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reconciliations, and financial statement generation.
- Implement secure data access, validation, regulatory compliance, and financial data protection practices.
- Refactor and optimize Python codebases for production performance, stability, and maintainability.
- Integrate Python applications with enterprise finance systems and relational databases.
- Create automated workflows and scripts for recurring accounting activities and period-end close processes.
- Develop unit, integration, and regression tests for finance modules.
- Investigate and resolve production issues by analyzing logs, data anomalies, and workflow gaps.
- Document technical designs, data flows, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting stakeholders on technical designs, audit requirements, internal controls, and risk mitigation.
- Provide guidance on Python best practices, coding standards, data handling, and deployment processes.
- Monitor system metrics, identify bottlenecks, and propose continuous improvements.
Requirements
- Five to seven years of experience developing Python applications.
- Strong Python proficiency and experience building data-centric applications for finance and accounting activities.
- In-depth knowledge of ledgers, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Experience in corporate or shared-service environments where finance systems and accounting workflows are central.
- Relational database skills covering schemas, queries, and data models.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations for financial data in multinational organizations.
- Practical experience with unit testing, automation, and version control for Python projects.
- Ability to work on site during the day and collaborate with finance stakeholders.
- Preferred certifications include Python Institute PCPP or PCAP and recognized finance or accounting technology certifications.
