Base Salary

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, operate, and sustain AWS-based platform services for mission-critical Department of War applications.
  • Administer Kubernetes clusters and related services, including access control, ingress, service discovery, storage, secrets, networking, autoscaling, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Build and maintain repeatable infrastructure and platform configurations using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or equivalent approved technologies.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, container registries, artifact repositories, automated testing, and deployment controls.
  • Onboard, deploy, configure, and sustain containerized applications across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Integrate platform services with DODIN networking, identity and access management, PKI, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, and endpoint security services.
  • Implement secure configurations aligned with DoD security baselines, DISA STIGs, RMF requirements, and ATO conditions.
  • Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, security posture, and application health using AWS-native and approved observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot Linux, container, Kubernetes, AWS, networking, DNS, certificate, encryption, load-balancing, storage, compute, identity, and application-dependency issues.
  • Perform patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration management, backup, recovery, upgrades, incident response, root-cause analysis, and after-action reviews.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, software, data, systems engineering, and mission teams to resolve dependencies and deliver integrated capabilities.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, configuration standards, operating procedures, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, deployment instructions, and knowledge articles.
  • Provide status reporting on platform health, technical risk, security findings, maintenance, dependencies, and recommended actions.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance and eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance; only U.S. Citizens are eligible for clearance.
  • At least five years of directly relevant professional experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevSecOps, systems engineering, Linux administration, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience operating, integrating, or sustaining systems connected to DODIN and familiarity with DoD network, security, configuration, and operational requirements.
  • Current DoD 8570-compliant certification appropriate to assigned information assurance or cybersecurity workforce functions.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, administering, troubleshooting, and upgrading Kubernetes environments and AWS infrastructure and services.
  • Experience administering Linux systems and troubleshooting operating system, process, package, file system, permissions, networking, and performance issues.
  • Experience building, securing, deploying, and operating containers using Docker, OCI-compatible technologies, or equivalent tooling.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, configuration automation, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and repeatable deployment practices.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, TLS, certificates, and network segmentation.
  • Working knowledge of DoD cybersecurity and authorization practices, including RMF, STIGs, vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, and ATO requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose complex technical problems independently, coordinate across technical teams, document findings, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical issues, risks, and recommendations to engineering, cybersecurity, program, and mission stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively remotely, protect government information, maintain reliable connectivity, and travel periodically.
  • Desired experience with Kubernetes on Amazon EKS in AWS GovCloud or another DoD-authorized cloud environment and with DoD Impact Levels 4, 5, or 6.
  • Desired experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize, observability platforms, container security, software supply-chain controls, SBOMs, Iron Bank images, hardened container baselines, CAC authentication, DoD PKI, identity providers, RBAC, ABAC, Zero Trust, service mesh, secrets management, policy as code, high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-account AWS architectures.
  • AWS, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer, Linux, cybersecurity, or related professional certifications are desirable.
  • Prior support for a Department of War mission partner, combatant command, military service component, Special Operations Forces organization, or other national security customer is desirable.
