Responsibilities
- Define and evangelize Intuit’s multi-year technical strategy for data platforms and semantic infrastructure.
- Architect company-wide ingestion, streaming, storage, processing, governance, cataloging, lineage, quality, observability, and privacy-by-design capabilities.
- Design semantic infrastructure including canonical entities, metric definitions, ontologies, knowledge graphs, and AI context and retrieval services.
- Resolve difficult cross-team and cross-platform technical problems and personally prototype or code where appropriate.
- Set technical standards, reference architectures, and build-versus-buy decisions, and lead architecture reviews.
- Partner with product, design, data science, AI/ML, privacy/legal, and engineering leaders to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical designs.
- Mentor Staff and Principal engineers and help shape technical career ladders and craft-skill expectations.
- Anticipate future scale, regulatory, and AI-workload challenges and drive roadmaps to address them.
- Represent Intuit’s data and AI infrastructure strategy with executives, external technical communities, standards bodies, and conferences.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience building large-scale data platforms at tens-of-millions-of-users and petabyte-class scale.
- Deep hands-on expertise with distributed storage and compute, streaming, orchestration, data governance, lineage and catalog tooling, and AWS or GCP data services.
- Experience designing semantic or knowledge layers such as metrics layers, ontologies, knowledge graphs, master/entity data management, or ML/LLM retrieval infrastructure.
- Prior company-scale technical leadership as a Distinguished Engineer, Fellow, Principal Architect, or equivalent, with standards or architecture artifacts that influenced a large engineering organization.
- Fluency in data privacy and governance requirements such as GDPR- and CCPA-class regulations and their architectural implications.
- Strong understanding of RAG, agentic workflows, LLM context construction, and governed semantic layers for AI systems.
- Experience designing agentic interfaces, governing large knowledge bases, and applying deep learning to large or sparse data problems.
- Experience designing and building distributed data and query systems with runtime optimizations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication across engineering and executive audiences.
- Preferred: experience in fintech, tax, accounting, or another regulated data-intensive domain.
- Preferred: ownership of a company-wide data platform or semantic/metrics layer used by multiple business units.
- Preferred: contributions to open-source data infrastructure, industry standards, published research, or patents.
- Preferred: experience building metadata and context infrastructure for production generative-AI or agentic platforms.
