Responsibilities
- Drive high-complexity software solutions from architectural design through successful production launch.
- Define technical roadmaps, scoping, and execution strategies for large-scale engineering initiatives.
- Design scalable search architectures and lead the adoption of architectural standards across projects.
- Lead high-impact code reviews, technical documentation, and resolution of critical system defects.
- Establish rigorous code review standards and engineering best practices.
- Partner with cross-organizational engineering teams on strategic company-wide programs.
- Apply deep programming and domain expertise to new technology stacks and high-performance engineering outcomes.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent while supporting team growth.
Requirements
- 10+ years in hands-on software or technology architect roles with end-to-end SDLC ownership.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Computer Science.
- Deep production expertise in OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and Lucene indexing and query-execution internals.
- Experience designing tenant isolation, data partitioning, shard placement, routing, and capacity strategies for distributed search systems.
- Demonstrated improvements to search latency, indexing throughput, availability, and infrastructure efficiency using OpenSearch or similar search engines.
- Expertise in reliable ingestion, index freshness, data correctness, permission-aware search, and online reindexing.
- Experience with Lucene, Solr, or other search technologies.
- Strong technical depth in distributed architectures, cloud-native services, and asynchronous or event-driven systems.
- Experience architecting, operating, and scaling high-throughput distributed systems and cloud services, including AWS or GCP.
- Preferred hands-on familiarity with Java, Kotlin, or the Kubernetes ecosystem.
