Responsibilities

  • Develop the store, data model, query path, and data API for engineering performance data at GPU data-center scale.
  • Ingest, join, store, and deliver profiling and telemetry data with low latency, incorporating host, scheduler, configuration, log, and storage context.
  • Establish and version data contracts with data-producing teams and guide consumers through format changes without disruption.
  • Handle delayed, duplicated, incomplete, and inconsistent data while making limitations visible to downstream users.
  • Balance data quality, query latency, storage cost, and retention, and measure improvements in efficiency, latency, and resource usage.
  • Implement evidence views, access controls, resource limits, and stable behavior during high demand or failures.
  • Debug across component boundaries and validate changes through code review, testing, and independent measurements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including delivery and operation of data pipelines, storage systems, analytical services, or comparable software used by others.
  • Production experience with large-scale data, including billions of events per day or petabyte-class stores.
  • Experience with low-latency streaming pipelines that handle backpressure, replay, and duplicate delivery accurately.
  • Strong judgment regarding event identity and ordering, data transformations, and the effects of errors or missing data on results.
  • Ability to explain a measured performance investigation, including baseline, competing explanations, changes, verified results, and trade-offs.
  • Experience establishing and versioning data contracts and guiding consumers through format changes.
  • Clear communication about technical choices, observed behavior, uncertainty, user data, and operational constraints.
  • Proficiency with C++, Python, and SQL.
  • Preferred experience with telemetry, time-series data, analytical query engines such as ClickHouse, and columnar formats such as Arrow and Parquet.
  • Preferred familiarity with profiler data, trace record formats, sampling semantics, symbolization, clock domains, and cross-machine event alignment.
  • Preferred experience with high-cardinality schemas and measured improvements to memory use, storage efficiency, or query performance.
  • Preferred track record of making data processing easier to inspect and recover during input changes, traffic spikes, or failures.
  • Working knowledge of Go is preferred.

Benefits

  • Eligible for equity and benefits.
  • The base salary range is 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD.
  • The position is based in Santa Clara, California.
  • Applications will be accepted at least until November 2, 2026.
