Responsibilities

Own and communicate technical architecture, design patterns, and technical direction for system or product areas.
Design, build, test, deploy, and support scalable, secure, reusable software for BigFuture products.
Develop backend applications using Node.js, TypeScript, Python, AWS serverless technologies, databases, and event-driven messaging patterns.
Design and implement React web applications and user interfaces with attention to accessibility, performance, scalability, and usability.
Create technical and non-technical documentation and break product capabilities into actionable technical changes.
Participate in or lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to team alignment and delivery.
Conduct code reviews, improve code structure and architecture, and mentor and coach less experienced engineers.
Assist with production issue resolution and operational readiness, including logging, metrics, monitoring, and alerts.
Serve as an organizational subject matter expert on Generative AI applications and advise teams on implementation patterns and safe deployment.
Keep current with Generative AI developments and share knowledge through presentations, meetings, and internal communications.

At least 7 years of professional experience designing, building, testing, and managing scalable web applications in AWS-hosted environments.
At least 3 years of experience building backend applications with Node.js and TypeScript.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, and DynamoDB.
Experience implementing observability with CloudWatch and X-Ray for logging, metrics, and alerts.
Hands-on experience implementing Generative AI applications such as RAG chatbots, model fine-tuning, or other LLM-powered tools.
Strong backend experience with Node.js and/or Python, asynchronous programming, and event-driven messaging patterns.
Strong knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Step Functions, IAM, KMS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and DynamoDB.
Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, APIs, and AWS serverless technologies.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and reviewing code for testability, maintainability, and scalability.
Proven ability to mentor and coach teammates, provide actionable feedback, participate in interviews, and lead technical collaboration.
Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, communication, documentation, and decision-making skills.
A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field is preferred.
Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is required.

Full-time position with fully remote work or hybrid work for candidates near College Board offices, with in-office days on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hiring range of $168,000 to $183,000, with location, experience, qualifications, impact, and market data considered.
