Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and mentorship for highly scalable, elastic, interdependent distributed systems.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize systems for hyperscale workloads.
- Drive distributed state management, data-plane platform innovation, redundancy, replication, failover, and fault tolerance.
- Establish standards for availability, durability, reliability, observability, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, and SLOs.
- Apply formal verification techniques such as TLA+ and develop replication and synchronization strategies.
- Lead production incident response, complex issue resolution, root cause analysis, operational readiness, and SOP standards.
- Design security controls, vulnerability remediation, compliance practices, infrastructure-as-code, automation, patching, upgrades, and rollbacks.
- Lead high-impact initiatives involving timelines, deliverables, resources, budgets, and changing priorities.
- Influence cross-functional leaders and stakeholders on strategic objectives and long-term partnerships.
- Serve as a technical thought leader, escalation point, mentor, interviewer, and contributor to talent development.
- Drive organization-wide improvements to processes, tools, workflows, and effectiveness metrics.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering and technical leadership experience architecting large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrated expertise in scalability, performance optimization, elasticity, fault tolerance, replication, failover, reliability, and data-plane systems.
- Experience with observability, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, SLO-based standards, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Experience designing security and compliance controls for multi-tenant environments.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, operational automation, patching, upgrades, rollbacks, and change management.
- Knowledge of formal verification techniques such as TLA+ and advanced replication or synchronization strategies.
- Ability to lead complex initiatives, influence cross-functional stakeholders, mentor teams, and serve as an escalation point.
- Experience participating in candidate assessment, interviews, hiring decisions, and organizational talent development.
