Responsibilities

  • Define and enforce API-first strategy, OpenAPI contract-first practices, API versioning, and API gateway governance.
  • Design and deliver Java Spring Boot microservices using resilient patterns and Spring WebFlux for AI pipeline integrations.
  • Integrate enterprise systems, identity services, and third-party providers using Apache Kafka, IBM MQ, Apache Camel, and Spring Integration.
  • Expose LLM inference, RAG pipeline, and agentic workflow endpoints as secure enterprise services.
  • Implement security controls including mTLS, OAuth2/JWT authorization, Vault secrets management, field-level encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Build distributed tracing, structured logging, metrics, alerting, and load-testing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams on CI/CD pipelines, Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, and OpenShift deployments.
  • Set backend integration direction, conduct architectural reviews, and mentor or advise engineers across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in backend engineering, including expert-level Java and deep hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring WebFlux.
  • Mastery of API development and governance using FastAPI, Flask, OpenAPI, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and GraphQL.
  • Hands-on enterprise integration experience with Apache Kafka or IBM MQ, Apache Camel or Spring Integration, and related integration patterns.
  • In-depth knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, API key lifecycle management, HashiCorp Vault, SOX, GDPR, and MiFID II.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
  • Strong Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD experience with Harness, Tekton, or Jenkins.
  • Production experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK for monitoring and incident response.
  • Ability to set technical direction, conduct architecture reviews, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor engineers.
  • Experience developing Generative AI APIs with FastAPI or Flask and familiarity with LLM inference or RAG endpoints is beneficial.
  • Exposure to hexagonal architecture, CQRS, event sourcing, and cloud-native systems is beneficial.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or university degree, or equivalent experience, is required.
