Staff Software Engineer, Finance Technology (Remote)

Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of the Finance Technology platform covering pay-ins, payouts, invoicing, and tax calculation.
- Define versioned APIs, contracts, service boundaries, and architectural standards across channels.
- Lead multi-quarter, multi-team initiatives from problem definition through system design, implementation, and delivery while staying hands-on in code.
- Maintain technical health through quality standards, operational metrics, safe rollouts, and production issue investigation.
- Evaluate and integrate finance technology providers, including payment service providers, through technical spikes and prototypes.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders through design reviews, code reviews, architectural guidance, and coaching.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Platform Engineering, and senior leaders on shared patterns and technical decisions.
- Participate in on-call rotation and lead triage of customer-impacting production issues.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building backend services.
- 4+ years of experience with Go.
- Experience leading multi-quarter, multi-team initiatives as a technical lead with ownership of architecture, sequencing, and delivery.
- Deep experience with payment processing and payout systems, including card processing, invoicing, refunds, disbursements, and tax, in high-volume products.
- Hands-on experience integrating modern payment service providers or gateways such as Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, and card networks.
- Understanding of settlement, chargebacks, PCI, and SCA.
- Experience building and scaling high-integrity systems such as payments, ledgers, billing, or other critical distributed systems.
- Strong API and contract design and service-boundary skills.
- Experience with automated testing, clean code, CI/CD, feature flags, telemetry, and safe incremental rollouts.
- Clear written and verbal communication about system design and technical tradeoffs.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve the software development lifecycle without sacrificing rigor.
- Experience with workflow orchestration such as Temporal; card issuance or ledgering experience is also noted.
