Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales to communicate Mapbox’s technical value and shape business opportunities.
- Lead technical discovery, understand customer goals and requirements, and design architectures aligned with business objectives.
- Design and present scalable architectures using Mapbox SDKs, APIs, and platform services.
- Lead technical responses to RFI/RFQ requests and produce technical documentation and solution proposals.
- Provide presales guidance and customer enablement through workshops, demos, and PoC/PoV engagements.
- Accelerate customer time-to-value and support adoption and expansion of Mapbox solutions.
- Advocate for customer needs and provide structured feedback to influence product and engineering direction.
- Maintain knowledge of mapping, mobility, and AI technologies and share best practices with customers and internal teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in solutions architecture, customer-facing engineering, presales/post-sales, or consulting.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, including written and verbal communication.
- Must reside in Japan.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, Android, and iOS, with experience integrating back-end APIs and front-end SDKs.
- Experience with GIS, location intelligence, geospatial data, mapping, major cloud platforms, or AI technologies is preferred.
- Experience leading technical RFI/RFQ responses and creating comprehensive technical proposals.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable, robust architectures and influence technical and executive stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
- Understanding of automotive industry technologies including navigation, autonomous driving, ADAS, ISA, and software-defined vehicles.
- Strong business acumen, autonomy, and ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer meetings, workshops, and industry events.
