Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver custom ATAK plugins for field-deployable tactical applications.
Enable Edge MLOps workflows and distributed, on-device machine learning for real-time decision support and situational awareness.
Work with geospatial data, real-time location services, and operational overlays to improve ATAK mapping and visualization.
Support TAK Server integration and data exchange between mobile applications and central server components.
Optimize software for low-resource devices operating in harsh, disconnected, or contested environments.
Implement and maintain secure API-based integrations using REST, WebSocket, gRPC, or similar technologies.
Troubleshoot distributed-system integrations and data synchronization under intermittent or limited connectivity.
Align plugins with military cybersecurity and STIG compliance requirements.
Document technical designs, workflows, and development and deployment processes.
Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, military stakeholders, and other multidisciplinary teams to define requirements.

3–5 years of software development experience, including mobile applications, plugin development, or backend systems.
At least 2 years of Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
Familiarity with edge computing, resource optimization on low-powered devices, and intermittent or contested networks.
Proficiency in API integration and secure, high-performance software architecture.
Understanding of military systems, particularly ATAK/Tactical Assault Kits.
Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity guidelines and frameworks, including STIGs and RMF compliance.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills for distributed systems and mobile applications.
Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one; applicants must be eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance, and only U.S. citizens are eligible.
Preferred experience with machine learning models for edge devices, including TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime, or PyTorch Mobile.
Preferred familiarity with Distributed Deep Learning, edge MLOps pipelines, DoD cybersecurity standards, application hardening, TAK Server, geospatial tools, tactical data links, scripting, and defense or DoD environments.
Preferred experience with React, Angular, Vue, Flask, Django, FastAPI, GDAL, GeoServer, Mapbox, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and military leadership.

US-remote or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania work locations are available.
Up to 10% travel is required.
Target salary range is $110,000–$160,000.
Work supports mission-critical defense and government applications in tactical and classified environments.
