Responsibilities
- Build a unified retrieval layer across enterprise systems.
- Design hybrid retrieval pipelines combining various retrieval methods.
- Engineer ingestion and freshness pipelines for data synchronization.
- Ensure permission-aware retrieval by preserving ACLs.
- Develop query understanding capabilities for AI agents.
- Design chunking and embedding strategies for different content types.
- Create evaluation and experimentation harnesses for retrieval performance.
- Ship production-grade systems with strong service level objectives.
- Mentor teammates on retrieval architecture and engineering practices.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in building production search or retrieval systems.
- Strong proficiency in a modern backend language like Python, Go, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with search engines such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
- Solid understanding of information retrieval fundamentals.
- Experience with vector search and embeddings.
- Familiarity with modern NLP and LLM tooling.
- Comfortable building integrations against SaaS APIs.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and CI/CD practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
