Responsibilities
- Lead AI/ML solution development across ideation, design, development, integration, verification, validation, deployment, and production operations.
- Provide strategic direction for AI Engineering initiatives, roadmaps, technical standards, and project priorities.
- Design and deploy healthcare AI solutions using machine learning techniques including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and large language models.
- Own the frontend engineering domain end to end, including component design, architecture, quality, performance, accessibility, and mentoring engineers.
- Lead the engineering of systems, tools, testing practices, and automated software release pipelines for AI solution development and deployment.
- Establish evaluation methodologies and performance metrics for the effectiveness, usability, and real-world impact of AI solutions.
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, data privacy standards, regulatory requirements, quality systems, and risk-management practices.
- Provide consultative services to clinical units and AI product teams and translate complex technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead collaboration with clinicians, UX designers, product managers, IT professionals, and external partners.
- Mentor engineers and support training, technical workshops, talent development, knowledge sharing, publications, and conference presentations.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field with 9 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 11 years of relevant experience.
- At least 9 years of experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare or similarly regulated or technology-focused environments.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex projects, technical or quantitative teams, multidisciplinary collaboration, and communication with non-technical stakeholders.
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure, software development tools, AI/ML techniques and frameworks, data engineering, data science, AI Engineering, and MLOps practices.
- Experience with large, complex, heterogeneous datasets and strong knowledge of healthcare workflows, electronic health records, medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Preferred doctorate degree and strong expertise in deep learning, natural language processing, generative AI, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
- Deep experience building and maintaining production frontends, including component architecture, state management, performance, and accessibility.
- Experience with healthcare informatics standards, common data models, quality engineering, compliance frameworks, risk-management files, and verification/validation strategies for digital health products.
- Expertise in user-centered design, human factors engineering, usability testing, expert reviews, and evaluation methods for AI products.
- Experience mentoring and training less-experienced team members, with strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder-management, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and time-management skills.
