Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evolve developer-facing systems and features that reduce cognitive load and enable self-service.
- Collect feedback from internal teams and drive feature development, user experience, and usability improvements.
- Develop, operate, and evolve the Engineering Portal UI and backend to provide a secure, reliable, high-quality user experience.
- Maintain documentation, automated testing, security upgrades, CI/CD pipelines, and observability integrations for the developer portal.
- Partner with platform, software, and hardware teams to integrate services, tooling, and policies into the portal.
- Lead sophisticated technical deliveries by defining scope, requirements, resourcing, architectural tradeoffs, and delivery plans.
- Participate in production support and a paid on-call rota for high-impact incident response.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and NodeJS, including production-grade web application development.
- Professional experience with React or another modern JavaScript web framework for building maintainable user interfaces.
- Experience with continuous delivery and automated testing for production systems.
- Understanding of distributed-systems security fundamentals and service integration patterns, including JWTs, OAuth2, and OIDC.
- Interest in platform engineering, developer productivity, automation, and safe, scalable self-service.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills across multiple teams and disciplines.
- Ability to communicate architectural tradeoffs involving usability, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Experience building or integrating internal developer portals such as Backstage is desirable.
- Interest in AI/ML and open-source software is desirable.
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus Kubernetes and DevOps tools such as Docker, Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD, is desirable.
