Base Salary
$150k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and productionize a toolchain that compiles complex Python packages from source.
- Create, review, and evolve conda recipes, build tooling, and release processes.
- Partner with pure Python wheels and distribution teams on automation and infrastructure.
- Mentor engineers on architecture, debugging, and packaging practices.
- Lead postmortems, capacity planning, and incident response for build and distribution infrastructure.
- Advise technical leadership on project scope, delivery tradeoffs, and technical strategy.
- Review and validate code generated with AI-assisted development tools before release.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, including technical strategy, system design, and architecture evolution.
- Deep hands-on C/C++ experience, including debugging and fixing compilation and linking issues across large codebases.
- Experience building or maintaining production software across Linux, macOS, and Windows.
- Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, including reviewing and validating generated code.
- Experience with Git or another version control system.
- Preferred qualifications include contributions to GCC or LLVM, compiler or linker development, knowledge of libc++/libstdc++/STL, glibc, macOS SDKs, UCRT, or vcruntime.
- Preferred experience includes Red Hat devtoolset, Linux distribution maintenance, Homebrew, or similar package systems at scale.
- Proficiency with CMake, Bazel, Make, or Automake and working knowledge of Python packaging and manylinux.
- Experience with GPU build tooling and runtime environments such as CUDA and cuDNN.
- Active involvement in conda-forge or the broader Python packaging community and experience in open-source environments.
- Python programming experience for build automation or infrastructure tooling.
