Network Reliability Engineer
CloudflareResponsibilities
- Engineer and operate Cloudflare’s core data center network, including hardware, software, installation, planning, management, and daily operations.
- Build tools to automate operational tasks and streamline network deployment processes.
- Provide a platform for other engineering teams to build upon.
- Design and implement failure-resistant, scalable systems using an automate-everything approach.
- Contribute to system design and take ideas from design through production.
- Build agentic deployment and troubleshooting tools on top of the Cloudflare stack.
- Automate network configurations, parse complex log files, and improve documentation.
Requirements
- At least three years of relevant network or site reliability engineering experience.
- BA or BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience with SaltStack, Ansible, or Chef configuration management frameworks.
- Experience with NX-OS, JUNOS, EOS, Cumulus, or Sonic network operating systems.
- Ability to use LLMs to build agentic deployment and troubleshooting tools, automate configurations, parse complex logs, and streamline documentation.
- Solid Linux systems administration experience.
- Linux networking experience with iproute2, Traffic Control, and Devlink.
- Strong software development skills in Go and Python.
- Preferred: deep knowledge of BGP and other routing protocols.
- Preferred: experience with Airflow or Temporal workflow management.
- Preferred: experience with FRR, Bird, or GoBGP routing daemons.
- Preferred: bare-metal switching, network programming in C, C++, or Rust, Linux kernel and software packaging, and tooling and automation development.
- Preferred: experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, ClickHouse, Kubernetes, Docker, or Consul.
