Base Salary
$157k - $202k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build polished, interactive web experiences for buffer.com, including product launch pages, brand storytelling, landing pages, and marketing tools.
- Create thoughtful animations and interactions using Motion, CSS animations, or other appropriate approaches.
- Evolve and maintain Buffer’s design system and component library by improving consistency, filling gaps, and refining reusable patterns.
- Improve accessibility and performance across buffer.com through audits, fixes, and ongoing standards improvements.
- Pair with engineers, review code, and share expertise on front-end architecture, design systems, and accessibility patterns.
Requirements
- Strong front-end engineering experience with React and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with front-end animation, design systems, and component libraries.
- Experience improving and evolving existing systems rather than only building new ones.
- Strong attention to accessibility, performance, clean code, visual hierarchy, spacing, typography, and user flows.
- Ability to make sound UX decisions in code and work effectively without fully defined requirements.
- Ability to collaborate across marketing, design, and engineering and communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Examples of work such as a portfolio, personal site, open-source contributions, animation work, component systems, or projects demonstrating implementation ownership.
- At least 5 years of experience is likely, although depth of experience and impact are prioritized over a specific number of years.
- Next.js experience is used by the team; experience with Next.js App Router, SSR/ISR patterns, or Edge functions is a plus.
