Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, development, optimization, and scaling of hardware-agnostic residential gateway firmware.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and establish embedded development best practices.
  • Build Python-based automated testing and unit-testing frameworks for system components, APIs, and firmware reliability.
  • Profile CPU and memory performance, eliminate leaks, resolve race conditions, and reduce bottlenecks using perf, Valgrind, and kernel utilities.
  • Design and optimize Linux wireless functionality and drivers for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 using hostapd, wpa_supplicant, and iw.
  • Develop high-performance embedded firmware in C and C++ across multiple gateway hardware platforms.
  • Maintain SoC-independent implementations using prpl APIs across carrier-grade SoCs.
  • Develop IPC services using ubus and/or iMTP.
  • Design and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing, bridging, and packet-forwarding functionality.
  • Implement device management and service models based on TR-181 and USP/TR-369.
  • Manage containerized microservices and virtual execution environments using Docker and prpl LCM.
  • Manage source code, branching strategies, and firmware release pipelines with Git.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on embedded firmware development experience in telecom, networking, or residential gateway industries.
  • High proficiency in C and modern C++ for resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Strong Embedded Linux development experience with OpenWrt or prplOS.
  • Production-level expertise with TR-181 data models and USP/TR-369 broadband management standards.
  • Experience deploying, isolating, and configuring containerized microservices with Docker and lifecycle tools such as prpl LCM.
  • Deep knowledge of the Linux Wireless stack, hostapd, wpa_supplicant, iw, and wireless drivers.
  • Deep understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, routing, and bridging.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux profiling and debugging tools, specifically perf and Valgrind.
  • Strong expertise managing source code and branching strategies with Git.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 implementation, configuration, or debugging is preferred.
  • Python proficiency for automated testing, hardware validation, or test execution is preferred.
  • Experience with embedded unit-testing frameworks such as CUnit, Unity, or PyTest is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OpenWrt ubus and message-bus architectures such as iMTP is preferred.
  • Experience developing hardware abstraction layers for Broadcom or MaxLinear residential gateway SoCs is preferred.

Benefits

  • Regular full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
  • Work locations are Bangalore, India, or Hyderabad, India.
  • AT&T provides reasonable accommodations and is an equal opportunity employer.
