Responsibilities
- Own the Databricks lakehouse, including ingestion from Salesforce and operational systems, storage, pipeline architecture, orchestration, and governance.
- Model quotes, orders, margins, suppliers, shipments, and other commercial and logistics data into clean, trusted datasets.
- Translate business questions into reusable datasets and metrics in collaboration with the Head of Data.
- Build features, signals, historical snapshots, and feedback loops for pricing, forecasting, and AI agents.
- Implement data quality tests, monitoring, and alerting to detect broken pipelines and schema drift.
- Add near-real-time processing where required while using batch processing where appropriate.
- Establish data platform standards as the first dedicated data platform hire, with a path toward leading a small data engineering team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of data engineering experience with ownership of a platform rather than a single pipeline.
- Deep SQL and Python skills plus hands-on experience with Spark and lakehouse technologies.
- Strongly preferred experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Workflows, and Unity Catalog.
- Experience using a CRM or ERP as a primary source system and modeling messy operational data.
- Comfort with infrastructure as code and software engineering practices for data, including version control, continuous integration, and testing.
- Ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders and challenge approaches when appropriate.
- Experience working in a Series B environment with shifting priorities and incomplete specifications.
- Experience using AI coding tools appropriately.
- Nice-to-have streaming experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or equivalent.
- Nice-to-have machine learning and statistical analysis experience, particularly for forecasting or pricing.
- Nice-to-have Salesforce experience and experience in commerce, marketplaces, or supply chain.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is nice to have.
